Born into a true cycling family, Dave is the son of Arthur Sims, Merseyside time trial champion. Although Dave is widely known for his
Help For Heroes Tour De France ‘Chopper’ ride, he also runs a successful performance coaching company, focussing on fitness & nutrition for road cyclists and triathletes.
Dave has been coaching for over 20 years and is a triple graduate in Nutrition from three universities.

Sporting achievements

Dave has an extensive and varied back ground in cycling, competing in road racing, time trailing, XC mountain biking, CX and international Sportives.

Dave is mostly known for his somewhat eccentric charitable challenges, fund raising for Help For Heroes. Dave famously completed the Tour De France ride in 2015 on his Raleigh Chopper, receiving global press coverage and accolade.

Dave also holds the land speed record on a Chopper (39mph) and in 2017 became the first person to ‘everest’ on a Raleigh Chopper.
